Whitehill town councillors laying the foundations for peace

The theme for this year’s peace symposium was The Foundations for True Peace. The keynote address was delivered by His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community based in Tilford. He spoke about world peace and how it can be established, as well as the tenets of justice and tolerance and how Ahmadi Mosques also serve to be a beacon in this regard. National political parties were represented by MPs including guest speaker Ed Davey, leader of the Lib Dems. During the symposium, guests had the opportunity to be given a guided tour of the mosque complex. Cllr Shah, who joined the Whitehill & Bordon Community Party and was co-opted on to Whitehill Town Council in January, is himself an Imam and member of the Ahmadiyya community.
