West Midlands peace conference reflects on world peace

On 2 April 2022, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association in West Midlands held a virtual regional peace conference on the theme of stopping World War three.

More than 100 participants attended the event. A welcome address was given by Dr Azher Siddiq who explained that His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Head of the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has been playing a very prominent role in highlighting the need for promote world peace..

The first guest speaker was Mr Suresh Rajpura who is a faith guide and prominent public speaker on Indic faiths. Mr Rajpura gave a Hindu perspective and explained that any period in history is testament to the fact that there have been wars and that the mindset has to change otherwise the status quo will continue. He explained the Hindu view of World Peace which was in essence one of non-violence from the Sanskrit scriptures and explained how Mahatma Gandhi was the biggest proponent of this method of attaining peace.

The second guest speaker was Dr Pravin Pandey a consultant eye surgeon. He provided an opinion from a humanist perspective as he regards himself as agnostic. He explained the importance of travelling to promote ones understanding of the world and how this can result in peace. He also explained how we must change people’s perception of the reality and we must listen to other viewpoints.

The final address was given by Imam Shahzad Ahmed. He stressed that absolute justice is important and nations should not suppress one another as this results in disorder. He explained the importance of love, affection, a sense of community and the importance of recognising our creator. He explained that the sense of justice much must prevail under all circumstances and personal interests must be set aside. Policies should be promoted that result in World Peace and all leaders should focus on these issues.
