Up to 400 young Muslims set to walk and run for charity in Milton Keynes

As many as 400 members and supporters of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association UK (AMYA) are expected in Milton Keynes for a national charity walk and run on Sunday, August 23.

Starting and finishing at Seebeck courtyard in Knowlhill, the event will use scenic, traffic-free paths around Teardrop Lakes and Furzton Lake. Organisers are planning an accessible family route alongside standard and longer challenge options, with final distances subject to route checks. The event will take place from 9am to 5pm.The event is being organised with Milton Keynes homelessness charity UnityMK and supported by local fitness community Nobody Left Behind.

Participants from AMYA regions across Britain will raise funds for registered charities serving their own local communities. Together with a second challenge in Keswick, the national series is aiming to raise £20,000.

Nadeem Ahmad, one of the event’s key organisers said: “Serving people in need is part of our faith. At a time when communities can feel divided, walking and running side by side gives us a practical way to help local charities, meet our neighbours and build lasting bridges.”

AMYA is Britain’s largest and oldest Muslim youth organisation. Working with boys and young men aged 7 to 40 through more than 80 local branches, it aims to serve the community while also developing young people.

Members support food banks and homelessness projects, organise blood donation drives, clean streets, plant trees, assist during emergencies and raise funds for British charities.
