Stepping for a Beacon of Peace

KIND-HEARTED residents put their best foot forward and took part in the Beacon of Peace charity walk.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association (AMEA UK) raised more than £20,000 as they cycled and walked around Brueton Park, Solihull.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Sardul Singh Marwa, who also started off the cyclists and walkers on the course.

Beacon of Peace charity walks have a long history of supporting charitable causes, with over £11,000,000 raised over the years for organisations and projects including hospitals and humanitarian initiatives, both in the UK and internationally.

As well as walking and cycling to raise money for great causes, the event also served to foster community relations.

Beacon of Peace organiser, Tariq Malik, said: “We want to help society and support charitable endeavours while demonstrating our loyalty to this country. A distinctive feature of the Beacon of Peace charity walk is that all organisers are unpaid volunteers, with all operational costs covered by AMEA UK.

“We hope initiatives like this help to show the true face of Islam at a time of heightened Islamophobia. Our community’s motto, ‘Lover for All, Hatred for None’, is not something we simply preach – we practise it too.

“Service to humanity is a fundamental part of our faith, and we are committed to ensuring that Beacon of Peace continues to make a positive difference to people’s lives, irrespective of their faith or beliefs.”
