Ride4Peace: AMEA Cycling Club honors VE Day 80th Anniversary with peace tour across Greater Manchester

On Sunday, May 4, the AMEA Cycling Club Northwest organised a special Ride4Peace cycling event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day. The event brought together 13 dedicated cyclists on a journey to promote peace, unity, and remembrance across Greater Manchester. Representing Wigan, four members—Mansoor Ahmed Goraya, Ali Goraya, Dr. Abdul Qudoos, and Shahan Qudoos—actively participated in the event, proudly supporting the Ride4Peace initiative and honoring those who served during World War II.

The tour began just before 10:00 AM at Darul Amaan Mosque in Hulme, Manchester. From there, the group cycled through Walkden and Bolton, passed through Middlebrook Retail Park in Horwich, and concluded at Baitul Aziz, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Centre in Horwich. Throughout the route, cyclists were warmly welcomed by local community leaders and the regional missionary, reaffirming the values of unity and gratitude.

Local AMEA cyclists also joined the ride in Bolton and Middlebrook, adding their support to the cause. Horwich North Ward Councillor Ryan Bamforth joined the ride from Manchester, demonstrating strong civic support and community engagement on this meaningful anniversary. The ride not only celebrated peace and healthy living but also paid tribute to the courage and sacrifices made 80 years ago. The Ride4Peace campaign is a central part of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s ongoing efforts to foster harmony, social cohesion, and public service.

Seven cyclists completed the return journey to Manchester, covering a total distance of over 70 kilometres. This commemorative Ride4Peace event served as a powerful reminder of the enduring importance of peace and solidarity—principles that continue to inspire the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and the people of Wigan in their dedication to building a better, more united society.
