The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association North West (AMYA) kicked off the New Year with a powerful demonstration of community service and environmental responsibility. On January 1st, 50 dedicated AMYA members gathered at the Darul Amaan Mosque in Hulme for pre-dawn prayers before uniting to embark on a mass street cleaning initiative across Manchester

In a heartwarming display of commitment to community well-being, hundreds of enthusiastic volunteers armed with litter pickers and bin bags took to the streets at the crack of dawn. This initiative, rooted in the values of service ingrained in the Islamic faith, highlights AMYA’s unwavering dedication to fostering cleaner and more welcoming neighbourhoods. Aqeel Mushtaq, Regional President of AMYA North West, shared his thoughts on the initiative, stating, “New Year’s Day provides a splendid opportunity to start the year positively by giving back to our cherished local communities.

“Our street cleaning endeavors not only enhance aesthetics but also aim to inspire community pride.” AMYA’s annual New Year’s Day Street clean-up campaign is aligned with Islamic teachings, emphasising the importance of cleanliness as an integral part of faith. It underscores the significance of actively contributing to society and the country one resides in, echoing the principles taught by Prophet Muhammad.

The worldwide leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Caliph Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, encourages the youth to actively engage in community service, become productive members of society, and dispel negative stereotypes through positive efforts. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association is committed to promoting community service, environmental stewardship, and fostering a sense of pride and responsibility among its members.
