Local Mosque Hands out Free Water and Snacks to Huddersfield During Heatwave

Free water and refreshments initiative spreads message of ‘Love for All, Hatred for None’

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Huddersfield took to the streets of Huddersfield town centre to offer free bottled water, chocolates and refreshments to the public during the recent spell of exceptionally hot weather.

The community initiative, held on King Street, saw volunteers distribute complimentary bottled water, juices, chocolates and other refreshments to passers-by, providing welcome relief while promoting the Association’s enduring message of “Love for All, Hatred for None.”

The campaign aimed to encourage peace, compassion, loyalty, brotherhood and kindness towards people of all faiths, races and backgrounds.

Serving the community through acts of kindness

Speaking about the initiative, Fatihul Haq, President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Huddersfield, said: “These acts of kindness reflect the true teachings of Islam. During these hottest days of summer, we should look after one another and extend a helping hand to those around us.

“We also distributed free water at our mosque the previous day as part of our commitment to serving humanity.

“A simple bottle of water may seem small, but it carries a powerful message of compassion. Such gestures strengthen community cohesion, encourage mutual understanding and remind us of the countless blessings bestowed upon us by Almighty Allah.

“Clean drinking water is a blessing that many of us take for granted, while millions of people around the world walk miles every day to obtain safe drinking water.”

The initiative was warmly received by members of the public, with children delighted to receive free chocolates while parents praised the thoughtful gesture.

Volunteers praised for community spirit

The event was made possible through the dedication of volunteers, including Tahir Virk, aged 82, Sabahat Karim, Muneer Uddin and Mubashar Ahmad, whose enthusiasm and commitment helped make the initiative a success.

Members of the public expressed their appreciation, thanking the volunteers for their generosity and community spirit.

Promoting peace through practical action

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has long been recognised for its humanitarian work, putting its motto, “Love for All, Hatred for None,” into practice through acts of service and compassion.

At a time when conflict and suffering continue to affect many parts of the world, initiatives such as the Huddersfield water stall serve as a reminder that even small acts of kindness can help build stronger, more caring communities.

Organisers hope the event encourages people from all backgrounds to promote harmony, reject hatred and recognise their shared responsibility to support one another.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community continues to pray for lasting peace and stability throughout the world, expressing its hope that present and future generations will live together in mutual respect, security and harmony.
