Beacon of Peace Walk coming to Horwich this weekend

A five-mile charity walk will be taking place to raise funds and support humanitarian projects.

The Beacon of Peace Walk, organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elderly Association (AMEA) North West, will be held in Horwich on Sunday, June 28.

The circular route will take walkers around the Lower Rivington Reservoir, and 200 participants are expected, including men, women, and children.AMEA is an auxiliary organisation of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK.

A spokesperson said: “This is to establish peace, harmony, brotherhood as well as to raise funds for UK-based charities to serve the suffering humanity.”

Registration will begin at 9am, with the walk starting at 10am. Participants are invited to register in advance, gather sponsorship, and walk together on the day in support of the cause.

Organisers have described the day as a “Family Fun Day Out.”

The starting point for the walk is Bait ul Aziz Mosque.
