1,200 free bottles of water handed out on streets of Sheffield and Rotherham during heatwave
As temperatures continued to climb during the UK’s second heatwave of the summer, volunteers from Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Sheffield (Baitul Afiyat Mosque) distributed 1,200 free bottles of cold water across Sheffield city centre and Rotherham town centre, helping shoppers, commuters, visitors and outdoor workers stay hydrated during the hot weather.
The initiative formed part of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s long-standing commitment to serving humanity and supporting local communities in times of need. Throughout the day, volunteers provided water free of charge to passers-by, regardless of faith, background or belief, while also taking time to engage with members of the public in friendly conversation.
The event followed a similar initiative during the previous heatwave just two weeks earlier, when volunteers distributed 1,130 bottles of water in Sheffield city centre.
