Young muslims from Harrow begin the year by cleaning up streets

On New Year’s Day, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) Harrow organised its annual street cleaning initiative to serve the local community.A total of 22 volunteers and community members from Middlesex came together to tidy their neighbourhoods and start 2025 with a focus on service.Nationally, over 1,500 volunteers took part in similar initiatives across 75 locations, collecting more than 480 bags of litter.Commenting on the initiative, the Local/Regional Youth Leader of Greenford said:

“Cleanliness is a core tenet of our faith, and this initiative allows us to put our values into action while giving back to our country. Seeing our youth and community members come together on New Year’s morning to serve others is truly inspiring. Even a few hours of effort can make a significant difference.”AMYA’s New Year’s Day clean-up is part of its ongoing Mercy4Mankind campaign, which includes tree planting, fundraising, blood donations, and food distribution.

Over the past two years, AMYA has raised more than £750,000 for British charities, donated 34 tonnes of food to food banks, provided 4.6 million meals, and contributed over 57,000 hours of community service.
