Women from Doncaster’s Muslim community donate food supplies to city food bank
Women of Lajna Imaillah Doncaster, the Women’s Auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association and representing Baitul Baseer Mosque Doncaster, made a donation of food and essential items to Edlington Community Organisation (ECO) to support vulnerable individuals and families across the region.
The initiative reflects the group’s longstanding commitment to community service, a core principle deeply rooted in the teachings of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. The young female volunteers came together with the intention of helping those facing hardship, embodying the Islamic ethos that service to humanity is a fundamental expression of faith.“Our community has always believed that without service to the creation of God, our service to God remains incomplete,” said Zunaira Mahmood, President of Lajna Imaillah Doncaster.“We are guided by the words of Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, who continually reminds us that Muslims must strive to serve humanity, irrespective of religion, background or belief. It is this guidance that inspires us to step forward and support our neighbours with sincerity and compassion.”
The donation was warmly welcomed by Edlington Community Organisation, which provides crucial assistance to residents facing financial challenges, isolation, or food insecurity. Adverti ECO representatives expressed their appreciation for the support, noting the positive impact such partnerships have on the wellbeing of the local community.“As communities, we are strongest when we look after one another,” added Mrs Mahmood. “We pray this small contribution brings relief to those in need and inspires others to join us in spreading hope and support.”
The group encourages others to participate in local charitable efforts, reinforcing the belief that acts of kindness, no matter how small, help shape a more caring and inclusive society.
