Press Statement Regarding the Situation in Southport

In light of the recent tragic events in Southport, we offer our heartfelt condolences to the families of the three girls who were brutally killed. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their loved ones and we cannot imagine the pain and loss this needless attack must have caused.

Following the subsequent violence in Southport and other parts of England we reiterate our longstanding call for peace, respect and understanding among all communities. The shocking scenes are deeply disturbing.

The National President of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Rafiq Hayat, said,

“As we pray for the families of the young girls who were murdered it is even more worrying to see this baseless violence. We extend our support to all those affected by the situation in Southport and in other parts of England. Our community is ready to work collaboratively with neighbours, the police, local authorities and everyone else to restore harmony and ensure the safety and well-being of everyone involved.

“We stand firmly against any form of violence, hatred, or discrimination. We know there has been some concern about mosques being targeted and we urge all to remain vigilant during this time. It is also crucial for communities to come together and support one another and stand united against all forms of extremism.”

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK remains dedicated to promoting peace and understanding and will continue to work towards building a society where everyone can live without fear or prejudice.
