The evening was a follow up from a similar event hosted at the centre three years ago before lockdown. Civic heads from Leamington and Warwick, including the county High Sheriff attended the event which culminated in a shared meal and the chance to swap ideas. Thanking the hosts and performers Warwick Mayor Coun Parminder Singh Birdi said he had been inspired by the feeling behind many of the poems. “I heard pain in a lot of them, but I also heard hope. Peace is something you find inside yourself and poetry is definitely a route to get to hope and then peace.”
Scriptstuff’s next Leamington poetry evening is on Wednesday (July 20th) at the Temperance Cafe in Bath Street starting at 7.30pm.
