Muslim community across Walsall to come together in prayer and gratitude to mark VE Day anniversary

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK Walsall chapter will be marking the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe on Thursday with a mixture of special prayers and community activities.

The special prayers will be made on Friday as part of Friday prayers, with all Ahmadiyya mosques in the town joining the prayers.Each mosque will also display commemorative banners at its mosques, reflecting its gratitude to the wartime generation and reaffirming its commitment to peace and justice in the modern era.Finally, members of the community will visit veterans and the elderly in the local areas to present special commemorative cards and gifts.

A spokesman for the Ahmaddiya Muslim Community UK Walsall Chapter said: “On the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day and Victory over Japan (VJ) Day, which brought the Second Word War to a close, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK Walsall chapter stands in solemn remembrance of the immense sacrifices made by countless individuals from Britain, the Commonwealth and beyond, who served in the War for the cause of peace and freedom. 

“Their courage and dedication remain etched in our hearts and prayers.”
