Lord Mayor of Sheffield visit mosque to promote community cohesion
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Sheffield welcome the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councuillor Andrew Sangar and the Lady Mayoress, Coun Sue Alston, to the city’s Baitul Afiyat Mosque for a visit aimed at strengthening community ties and promoting greater understanding between local communities.
The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress were welcomed by members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community before being given a tour of the mosque in Attercliffe and an introduction to the community’s beliefs, activities and longstanding commitment to serving the people of Sheffield.
During the visit, discussions focused on community cohesion, volunteering, charitable initiatives and the important role that faith groups play in building stronger, more connected communities.Representatives of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association also shared examples of their local humanitarian work, including food bank collections, blood donation campaigns, environmental projects and distributing free bottled water during recent periods of hot weather.The visit reflected a shared commitment to fostering dialogue, mutual respect and collaboration for the benefit of the city.
