Leeds Peace Conference Promotes Interfaith Harmony
On 5 February 2022, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Leeds held a Peace Conference on the topic, ‘Peaceful Teachings of Different Religions’.
Three guest speakers spoke on this topic:
• Councillor Abigail Marshall Katung
• Mr Ian Stewart, Air Commodore
• Mr Abdul Rashid Thomas, Chairman of the Leeds African Communities Charity Trust
The keynote address was delivered by Mr Bilal Atkinson, the President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Hartlepool. He spoke on how peace cannot be achieved in society without justice and how the Holy Qur’an guides mankind in these matters.
The event was attended by 50 people, including Armed Forces officials, teachers, local councillors and other professionals were present.
The event also featured an exhibition on the Holy Qur’an, charitable events undertaken by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and various efforts by his Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (the Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community) to establish world peace.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr Ben Mallinson, the head teacher of The Ruth Gorse Academy.
