A time for reflection and compassion
Eid-ul-Fitr marks the conclusion of Ramadan, a month observed by Muslims worldwide through fasting, prayer and charitable acts. The occasion is traditionally associated with gratitude, generosity and renewed spiritual commitment. During the Huddersfield gathering, special prayers were offered for world peace and stability, alongside calls for an end to ongoing global conflicts.
Attendees were also encouraged to reflect on those experiencing hardship, including individuals facing poverty, fear and displacement.Calls for peace and understanding Speaking at the event, Fatihul-Haq, President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Huddersfield, emphasised the importance of applying the values of Ramadan throughout the year.
Quoting from the Holy Qur’an, he said: “And Allah calls to the Home of Peace” (10:25). He stated, “We must all play our part, no matter how small, in promoting peace and understanding. “History clearly shows that wars do not bring peace, but instead result in destruction and human suffering. “True and lasting peace can only be achieved through dialogue, mutual respect, and a sincere effort to understand one another. “We must also remember our responsibility to care for those less fortunate and support them in every way we can.”
Community effort
Organisers acknowledged the contribution of volunteers and venue staff in making the gathering possible. Fatihul-Haq also thanked those involved in planning the event, as well as the management of the Accu Stadium, for their support.
Ongoing charitable work
Alongside the celebrations, the association highlighted its continuing charitable efforts. It reported that food had already been distributed to more than 200 homeless individuals, with further support planned in the coming days. Organisers said the initiative reflects the broader message of Eid — encouraging kindness, forgiveness and service to others — as communities look to build a more peaceful and inclusive society.
