Huddersfield charity walk with ‘stand united’ message in 5 pictures
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Huddersfield hosted a charity walk to promote peace and raise funds for local and international humanitarian causes.
Attended by a wide range of people, including key Muslim figures, Kirklees Lord Mayor Liz Smaje, and members of West Yorkshire Police and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, the walk helped to bring people together as they battled against adverse weather conditions in Greenhead Park in Huddersfield on Sunday, June 8.
Sabahat Karim, youth leader of Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, said: “These charitable walks are more than just fundraising events; they are a living expression of Islamic values such as empathy, unity, and service to mankind. When we walk together for peace, we send a clear message that our faith compels us to care for all humanity.”
Sadakat Ahmad, Regional Leader of the Elderly Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Yorkshire Region, said: “As elders in the community, it is our responsibility to lead by example. This initiative is rooted in the Prophetic tradition of serving others selflessly, and we are proud to support causes that alleviate suffering and bring hope to those in need.”
The event raised more than £25,000, which will fund a local food bank and fund a Masroor Eye Clinic in Burkina Faso. Mr Fatihul-Haq, secretary of external affairs at Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Huddersfield, added: “At a time when the world is witnessing rising conflict, division, and suffering, it is more important than ever to stand united in service and peace.”
