Glasgow youths to clean streets on New Year’s Day to ‘keep Scotland beautiful’

A dedicated group of teenagers will take to Glasgow’s streets on New Year’s Day for an annual cleaning initiative, in a bid to ‘keep Scotland beautiful’. Organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA), the project will see young people out and about with brushes, bin bags, litter-picking sticks, and high-visibility jackets, cleaning up neighbourhoods.

Fakhar Ahmed Aftab, Regional Youth Leader of Scotland for AMYA, SAID: “Cleanliness is a core tenet of our faith, and our love for our nation is deeply rooted in our beliefs.

“The New Year provides a meaningful opportunity to give back to our community and contribute to making Scotland a better place for everyone. By dedicating just a few hours, we can make a lasting impact, and we eagerly look forward to participating in this year’s New Year Street Clean-Up.Over the past two years, AMYA has raised more than £750,000 for British charities, donated 34 tonnes of food to food banks, provided 4.6 million meals and dedicated over 57,000 volunteer hours to community service.
