Free Leicester mosque open day aims to ‘build bridges’ with all communities
A Leicester mosque is inviting the public to explore Islamic culture and traditions at an open-day event this weekend. The Baitul Ikram Mosque in Clarendon Park says the event aims to “build bridges” with different Leicester communities.The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, which runs the mosque, says the event is open to all. It aims to “foster understanding, break down misconceptions, and build bridges across different communities in Leicester.”
Visitors will have the chance to join guided tours and participate in an open Q&A session with local Muslim community members. The open day will feature informational displays, exhibitions, and literature for those interested in learning more about Islam.”This Open Day offers a unique opportunity for people of all backgrounds to step inside the mosque, learn about Islamic practices, and experience a warm and welcoming environment,” a spokesperson said.
Refreshments will be provided for attendees throughout the event. “Whether you are curious about Islamic traditions or simply want to connect with members of your community, this event is an ideal opportunity to learn and engage,” the spokesperson added.The mosque will welcome visitors on Sunday (October 20) with the open day starting at 2.15pm. Baitul Ikram Mosque is located at 95 Avenue Road Extension, Leicester, LE2 3EQ. The open day is free to attend.
