Crawley Muslim group’s anniversary

Noor-Mosque-1

A Muslim group will be using its first anniversary celebrations to promote unity and oppose radicalisation.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association will host a charity dinner in support of the Mayor’s Charity on March 20 at the Noor Mosque, Langley Drive.

Under the title Community Cohesion and Preventing Radicals, the dinner will be attended by Henry Smith MP, the mayor, Cllr Brenda Smith, Chris Oxlade, Labour’s Parliamentary candidate for Crawley, and Jonathon Lucas, High Sheriff of Sussex. Ahsan Ahmedi, regional president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, said: “It is vitally important to rid any form of fear in our towns and promote peace and cohesion with our neighbours and in our towns. We should educate our children and make them loyal citizens where they live and be part of the community. The name of Islam cannot be tarnished by the few who have hijacked this peaceful religion and portrayed it as a religion of terror.”
