The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Huddersfield hosted a large and uplifting Community Iftar, bringing together people of different faiths, backgrounds and civic leadership to break the fast in a spirit of peace, harmony and mutual respect.
More than 150 guests attended the event, reflecting the strength and unity of the local community.
Among the distinguished attendees were the Lord Mayor of Kirklees, Liz Smaje, the Leader of Kirklees Council, Carole Pattinson, local MP Harpreet Uppal, the Bishop of Huddersfield, Smitha Prasadam, Deputy Lord Mayor Cllr Munir Ahmad, Interfaith Chairman Kiran Bali, Inspector Alex Langley, along with fellow councillors, faith leaders and police representatives.
Understanding the True Meaning of Ramadan
The keynote speaker, Sabahat Karim, delivered an insightful presentation on the significance of Ramadan and the true purpose of fasting.
The presentation explained how fasting is not merely refraining from food and drink, but a comprehensive spiritual exercise designed to cultivate self-discipline, moral reform, empathy and closeness to God.
Guests warmly received the clear explanation of Islamic teachings and valued the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the principles behind the practice.
Throughout the evening, speakers highlighted the importance of dialogue, respect and cooperation between communities, and acknowledged the continued efforts of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association in promoting peace and social cohesion across the region.
