British Muslims offer thanks and prayers for success of Team GB
A British Muslim community has said a prayer of thanksgiving to God for Great Britain’s record-breaking Olympic success.
Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK – amongst the oldest established Muslim communities in Britain – were grateful to God and congratulated TeamGB’s in its excellent medal haul at the Olympics.
Rafiq Hayat, National President, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK, said:
“We applaud the spirit of endeavour and the excellence of the achievement by Team GB. These individuals and teams are an inspiration to all of us and we pray that it inspires future generations to even greater success and that they too do their country proud.
“As British Muslims, we are proud to be a part of Britain and are proud to celebrate its success. We express that joy through prayer and humble submissions to God and our heartfelt congratulations to our amazing athletes.
“It is apt that some Team GB members sang God Save The Queen on board the plane – serving Queen and country with is a key part of our faith and we believe it is a source of blessing for our nation. The athlete’s achievement swells our hearts with joy and pride.”
