All Party Parliamentary Group for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Statement on Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar
The UK All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is deeply concerned about the ongoing plight of the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar and we call for this harassment and violence to end immediately. The exodus of more than 400,000 Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar is shocking and the reports of ruthless attacks by the Myanmar military on innocent citizens is unacceptable. Aung San Suu Kyi and the Government of Myanmar must act urgently to restore peace and provide full protection to all its citizens – including the Rohingya Muslims – and grant them full rights. We also call on the international community to work rapidly to provide much needed assistance to the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh and to secure their safe return and rehabilitation to Myanmar. Religious freedom and freedom from religious violence is a fundamental human right that must be assured for all.
