Leeds Muslims to join Britain’s biggest Muslim convention

MUSLIMS from Leeds are joining thousands from around the world at Britain’s largest Muslim convention.The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK’s annual Jalsa Salana is taking place from July 24 to 26 at Hadeeqatul Mahdi in Alton, Hampshire.

More than 50,000 people from over 100 countries are expected to attend the gathering, which promotes prayer, peace, and global solidarity in its 60th year in the UK.The Caliph of the community, His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, will address the convention on all three days and has been a vocal advocate for peace and justice internationally.

He said: “I firmly believe there is only one way to end these wars—by ensuring that justice prevails and that whatever settlements are made are based on equity, as opposed to what better serves the interests of external powers.”

Rafiq Hayat, national president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK, said: “Sixty years on, this Jalsa Salana remains a beacon of Islamic values, of peace and mutual respect.”As the world fractures along political lines, we condemn all acts of violence and call on world leaders to work for lasting peace.”The event includes a global pledge for peace, exhibitions, and interfaith sessions.
