Muslim Caliph: Islam isn’t the problem – it’s world leaders driving us closer to WWIII
As anti-Islam protests erupted in London, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad warned that global powers, military aggression and political hypocrisy are pushing humanity toward a catastrophic World War III.
Tilford, Surrey — The Head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community on Saturday rejected claims that Islam fuels extremism, insisting that global disorder is being driven instead by geopolitical hypocrisy, failed leadership and the reckless pursuit of power.
Speaking at a national peace symposium in Surrey, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, said Muslims were deeply hurt by repeated attempts to blame Islam for the world’s crises, while governments and major powers continue to wage wars and violate international law.
The address came as tens of thousands of demonstrators gathered in London for a march which featured a number of anti-Islam speakers.Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“Such allegations (against Islam) are utterly false and extremely harmful.”
“Rather than scapegoating Islam or any other religion, what the world urgently needs is for people to unite with a common purpose – the establishment of peace and harmony.”
Addressing the 600 attendees gathered at the Community’s headquarters at Islamabad in Tilford, His Holiness condemned modern warfare and geopolitical double standards, the Caliph argued that world leaders – not religion – were dragging humanity towards a Third World War.His Holiness said:
“Global disorder is driven by the desire of the rich and powerful to fulfil their vested interests and maintain their dominance over others.”
His Holiness also criticised the hypocrisy of world leaders who failed to act with honesty and integrity.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“Achieving peace also requires a spirit of sacrifice. It cannot be that one nation expects concessions from others whilst refusing to make any of its own.”
“They prioritise strategic alliances over principle and turn a blind eye to the cruelties of their allies, rather than standing for truth and justice in all circumstances.”
The Caliph referenced a number of international leaders and experts in his speech, pointing out that none blamed Islam for rising global instability. Instead, he said, they warned of collapsing international law, unchecked military aggression, and governments using conflict to distract from their own failures.
The Muslim leader also fiercely rejected the use of women’s rights as justification for military intervention, pointing to the deaths of civilians in conflicts across the Middle East.
Throughout the speech, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad repeatedly stressed that Islam’s teachings demand absolute justice – even towards one’s enemies – and that true peace can only be achieved through fairness, restraint and reconciliation.
His Holiness stressed:
“Far from being a source of conflict, Islam’s teachings offer a timeless path towards peace.”
Warning that the world was nearing an historic breaking point, the Caliph concluded with an appeal for humanity to step back from the brink before future generations inherit “a world set on fire.”
The National Peace Symposium is hosted by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and attended by guests from across political, religious and civic life.
