Ramadan Big Iftar in Horwich builds unity across Bolton
The event took place in Horwich, Bolton, as part of the annual Big Iftar, hosted by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to mark the holy month of Ramadan and promote unity. The event is designed to encourage interfaith dialogue, strengthen community cohesion, and increase understanding during Ramadan.
Guests included town mayor Victoria Rigby, the MP of Bolton West Phill Brickell, Horwich councillor Ian Aldcroft, as well as representatives from community groups, a councillor candidate, and youth organisations.The evening began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an in both Arabic and English.
Zahoor Ahmad, president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Bolton, said: “Ramadan is a time for reflection, compassion, and service to humanity.”He welcomed guests and spoke about the significance of the month, and the importance of building bridges with neighbours and the broader community. Guests were invited to share their thoughts, with many praising the Ahmadiyya community’s ongoing efforts and highlighting the importance of such gatherings in strengthening cohesion.
The programme included presentations on the humanitarian work and charitable projects of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, reflecting its motto of ‘Love for All, Hatred for None.’The evening closed with remarks from regional Amir Galib Hafiz, who thanked attendees and reaffirmed the community’s commitment to peace and service.He reaffirmed the community’s dedication to serving humanity and fostering peace and understanding. The Big Iftar Bolton is seen as a vital event in fostering meaningful connections and celebrating the values of compassion, unity, and mutual respect.
