Keighley Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association in tree planting
They helped plant more than 850 trees at Hayhills Farm woods, Silsden.
The initiative – carried out alongside YORgreen CIC – formed part of a woodland ‘beating up’ operation, a practice that involves replacing saplings which die or fail to establish within the first few years of being planted. Humza Sikander, imam and association youth leader, says: “The prophet Muhammad actively encouraged the beautification and protection of the environment through planting trees.”It is his noble example which was the inspiration behind our involvement in this fantastic initiative.”
A YORgreen CIC spokesperson said: “We want to thank Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association for its help with the ‘beat up’.”
